Salam Aidilfitri 2009

Salam n hi to all!

helo2..

I hope it's not too late to wish a SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI to all Muslims. Yes, it is 2 days before the big day, but I'm sure most of you dont have anything else in your mind but balik kampung. Goodbye to work, goodbye to city life, goodbye google, goodbye facebook, and goodbye to blogspot.com! How's the preparation anyway? As I am writing this, most of my family members have gathered at rumah atok in Klang. My cute lil cousin called, and I can already hear the kemeriahan at the back of her voice. Oh and yes, I am still at the office, but my mind is straying...thinking about meeting everyone this saturday. Syioknyer..

Well anyways, hope everyone will have a wonderful raya, with family and friends. A friend said yesterday that Raya is overrated? OVERRATED? What crap are you talking about? It should be overrated. Or else, lama2 kita akan lupa kepentingan dan kemeriahan hari raya ini. Yes, it has become less glorious compared to when we were kids, but I believe semangat raya is much more than just putting on a new baju kurung and having boxes and boxes of kuih raya. Think about family. think about forgiving. and think about food! heh yela, food that u dont get to eat on normal days..

I dun care whatver ppl say, I am indulging myself in this raya mood. Kepada sesiapa yang bersedih raya tahun ini, contohnyer ada kehilangan kehilangan ahli keluarga ataupun sahabat handai baru2 ini, takziah diucapkan. Semoga anda dapat ketenangan dan lebih sabar. We had our worst too, so I understand.

Well anyways, pesanan terakhir, kepada rakan2 yang jauh di cambridge, preston, amsterdam, australia, dublin and russia, Salam Perantauan, selamat hari raya..semoga dapat mncari kemeriahan bersama warga malaysia di sana. jangan sedih2, kat sini mmg lagi syiok dr sana. Haha..i obses ngan raya tahun ni, sb last year hampir tidak merasa apa2. dah la duk kat bilik, buat thesis pulak tu! the next saturday baru ade gathering2.n skali my birthday celebration...hm...i miss u all in cambridge lah. ;) takpe, masak best2 ok korang..mohon maaf silap and salah...

kepada yang lain di malaysia, drive carefully! gosok baju raya tu baik2, jgn smpai hangus. tudung kasi liplap sket, biar glamer dr hari yg lain. hehe take lots of pics, i wanna seee... ;) This year baju kurung i kaler purple! Last minute je beli kat plaza shah alam. hehe.

So everyone..look your best di pagi raya nanti! That's the highlight of the whole raya! haha. Have a blast! and may Allah bless you and your loved ones...

Salam Aidilfitri
xoxo

Just enjoy the show

Cheers to a screwed up life! ;)

The show - Lenka

I'm just a litthe bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go
I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

Slow it down
Make it stop
Or else my heart is going to pop
'Cause it's too much
Yeah, it's a lot
To be something I'm not

I'm a fool
Out of love
'Cause I just can't get enough

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go
I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go

And just enjoy the show

The sun is hot
In the sky
Just like a giant spotlight
The people follow the sign
And synchronize in time
It's a joke
Nobody knows
They've got a ticket to that show
Yeah

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I dont know where to go
I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go

And just enjoy the show

Just enjoy the show

Si Motak in my suitcase

In less than 24 hours, I will be on a flight to Perth with along and the one and only...Si Motak!!!

Traveling hours normally takes about 5-6hours (i dont remember exactly), and lucky enough we bought the night flight; departing at 12am and expected to arrive at 5.30am in Perth (ok, there you go..it's 5 and a half hours journey). One bad thing is, we did not book for bassinet seats, which means either me or along gonna have to hold this boy for the WHOLE journey. Best takkkk??!! Harap dia tak cranky or sleepless or crying or even worse awake and active! Urghh, this boy is so unpredictable.

To any doctors out there....Can we urmm prescribe any kinds of urmm some sort of medicine to put this boy to sleep? Let's say, coughing syrup? Sleeping pills? Any jabs that makes him semi-conscious? Sleeping gas? Huhu kidding2...kejam giler. But if there's any alternatives that are safe and effective, do ring me!
The thing is, the mummy (along) had a fever and still feeling dizzy from time to time. Pray for her full recovery or else I'll be taking over the "buat susu" and "tidorkan baby" task. I'm used to it already by now. But in the plane? In the middle of the night? NO NO NO...

Kalau active macam ni, nak buat macam mana?

Geleng-geleng kepala. Cute yet annoying. Haha

Kalau duduk diam-diam macamni kan baguss....good boy..kiddy..kiddy..

Let's hope for the best tomorrow. I haven't finished packing and don't plan to do it tonight. Esok je lah. Tadi susah nak kemas, how can I when this boy loves to play in the suitcase. But he freaked out everytime I tried to shut the lid. Huhu kes bully lagi.

Okeh, too many pictures of Motak already. Yes, I am obsessed with him. ;)

Take care people!

p.s. Some have been demanding on the updates on my graduation and Euro-trip. Banyak sangat la pulak rasanya. I know I should have done it before heading to another trip. hehe. OK, aku bersalah. Will try..

p.s.s. Thanks for the wishes anyway :)

From Yeah yang agak alagapas

Heh, Sory Yeah!

Yeah mmg alagapas kerana telah meng-award-kan friendship award ini tanpa pemberitahuan. Maka, setelah melawat blog beliau dan membaca entry yang ditulis lebih dari sebulan yang lalu, barulah disedari ada award yang menanti.

Busy ek pacik?

Anyway, after reading this post, barulah sedar yang kami pertama kali berjumpa di cybercafe yang disediakan UNISEL secara percuma, called Free-Lab. Hehe. He was monitoring the lab at that time. I believe Imran (his tall brother) was there too? And so my first words uttered were "Nak satu pc?" Muahaha..I tak ingatlah Yeah, but I guess that might be true.

Anyway, Yeah ni mmg baik, penyayang, caring, smart and hardworking. (cukup tak I UP-kan you Yeah?) Haha. We were the bujang-vogey group members, group yang kununnyer terdiri oleh warga UNISEL yang single-mingle aja at that time. We were quite close, I can admit, as he is also a good listener. Not that I have much to whine about. But the point is, he's always supportive.

This guy is truly a good friend. He love girls (haha) and girls love him too. Banyak scandal mamat ni woo. I tak ingat his current affair, there were so many that I have lost track of all the girls's names mentioned. (cewah begitu hebat!) Tapi what matters the most is, IS HE SINGLE OR IS HE NOT?

He is single and available y'all........ muahaha

Yeah, cukup tak promosi I ni? ;) Anyway, he is afterall a good friend. Tak sempat lagi lepak ngan you kerana dia ni busy sesangat. Bila mau jumpa 'girfren' di Shah Alam, sila singgah di extreme park ok, belanja burger king satu. Heh

Ok, panjang plak entry promosi Yeah ni. Thanks again for the award. No, I am not the best blogger, but I can be your best friend. ;) Take care dude!

Sorry pa'a, for missing out on this tag. Am now more than happy to do it.

I chose this template

1. Do you think you are HOT?
Yes, today! Malaysia sangat panas wo harini....(hehe) I don't think I'm hot btw.

2. Why do you like this picture?
Coz I will never be in a portrait displayed in the museum, adored and being talked about. ;(

3. When was the last time you ate pizza?

Two days ago, along brought home Dominos pizza.

4. The last song you listen to?

Srikandi cintaku by M. Nasir. Jiwang, i know. But we were practising for the recording.

6. What name u prefer besides yours?

Hm...never thought of it. But I have an English name and it's Jane! Haha I have to use this nickname everytime I call the taxi. Once I gave my real name, they heard it as Diane (die-yen). So if not Jehan, it would be Jane. ;)

7. People to tag
Aliaa
Winnie
Yeah
Farah
Farhana
and whoever has ample time to do it

8. Who is no.1?
A friend from the good-old-days life in UM. A tutor in UPM, won many awards in her own field, a wife and hopefully with the title Dr. Alia in the future. ;)

Hah! Hard to guess. So many girls's names mentioned to me, but you still haven't pin it. So yang mana satu kalini Yeah?? Haha. Sorry Yeah

11. How about no.4?
Also another good friend from the good-old-days in UM. Working with a tobacco company. (wohoo). A person that's truly spontaneous, loveable and transparent. Good news, she's single ;)

12. Who is no.2
Puan Winnie. The newly-wed. A very good friend of mine. Check out her wedding entries here.

13. Others?
If you can see, think and type, you're up for it.

Have you ever...bad boys

Have you ever thought that bad boys are sometimes more appealing than the nice guys?

My answer is YES! ;)

Define 'bad boys' in general (not the drinking and sleeping with anyone anytime kind)...

1- They don't always follow the rules

2 - They are spontaneous

3- They are funny yet annoying at times

4- They like to talk about themselves, not excessively though. Enough for you to sense the high level of confidence

5 - Love to entertain girls who are clearly attracted to them. If you are the girlfriend, dont you just wanna hit them on the head? But for some (stupid) reasons, you love them still. (weird)

6 - It's rare to hear they say something nice. So, if they compliment you, you'd feel extra special. You'd know it is exclusively for you.

7- They aren't neccessarily good-looking, but they have their special charm. A natural conversationist. Perhaps more of a sweet talker?

8- In some cases, they can be quite a silent/shy one. A lone-ranger. The mysterious type.

9 -Act casually over something big (ego? Control macho? Not exciting for them? I can't figure)

10-Flirt with most girls, with or without bad intentions, i don't know.

11- Somehow, I like to relate them to music...a guitar player? haha

12 -Has no future planning (this is the not-so-appealing part), which boils down to financial insecurity from a girl's point of view.

13 - Your parents foresee that you'd have no future together and believe you deserve someone better (can't blaim them)

14 -Back to the music thingy...they prefer to spend lavishly on musical instruments like electric drum or an amplifier, but always have silly excuses to top-up their phone credit. No credit means no calls, no sms-es. Keep you waiting and anticipating.

15 - Somehow....you seem to have heaps of fun when you're around them.

Add more to the list if you have come across the bad-boys type.

Well..well..well...

Of course in the end, you'll choose someone with proper job and make a good living, ambitious, has goals in life, family-oriented, love you and want to spend time with you, understand your wants and needs, LOYAL and most importantly you are his top priority. Yes, these vital attributes. The reflection of a perfect husband.

But when you're still young, you don't deliberate on these kind of things. You simply like what you like. The matter of right and wrong comes second. Perhaps it's human imperfection, to be conciously/unconciously indulged in what's not good for them.

So......

For me, bad boys described above are appealing at some point. It is true, that most of the time they make you feel exceptional! Alive and kicking. But they also come with heartache and the feeling of being neglected.

So, strike a balance and be smart. Every girl must put a standard on what she wants in life, on how she wants to/should be treated, on her future expectations. Maybe not a clear picture, but a rough guideline. Afterall, bad boys won't stick the way they are forever, they are just being young and free (and immature). Naturally the good essences do exist somewhere in them! Haha So, play along and educate them. They'll grow mature eventually like any other men on earth at one point. So if you thing your guy is this bad boy type, hang on to them. Kasi peluang.

On the other hand, for those who've already found the nice guys, do not keep them loose! You are among the lucky ones. Trust me, you're not missing on anything. Besides, who says the nice guys have no charms, boring and lifeless?

Heh!

The bad boy we adore

The nice guy we should embrace

Long-due post : Birthday partay!

Ok, ok...last post and I will then try to sleep!

This is another post that I should have posted weeks ago. It's about a birthday party for the two newcomers in the family, who are......

the nephew, MAHER aka Motak...a big ONE!

and

the brother in law, Abang Azra who turned a bigger 29 years old!!!

.................................................

before the party started . . .

Me and Dayana in action! At the party and baloons shop!

Right after attending Winnie's reception ceremony in Kelana Jaya, I had to run to Shah Alam Section 9 to pick up two things - helium baloons (i like!!!) and the birthday cake. I told dayana about these exciting baloons, and she voluntarily drag along. Al-maklumlah, zaman kami kecil2 mana ada orang belikan helium baloons for our birthday party. I dont know about u, but both of us were super excited with the idea of holding a helium baloon. Ok, we are easily excited? So what.

Wanna try urself? Go to section 9 Shah Alam and indulge yourself with the toys they put on display in this shop. Syiok wo....I realy cant stop myself from putting on that colourful afro hair! and Dayana's pick? Babe, am just speechless. Hahaha

Crazy girls on the loose ;P

The cake was an easy job. But to drive back all the way to Klang with 20 balloons in the car without any extra hand??

DO NOT TRY THIS STUNT EVER!

I'm telling you, boley accident wooo. The balloons would bump over one another and not to mention that they freaking FLOAT! So you are practically blinded from your surrounding. Back mirror, side-mirror, hilang....Alhamdulillah, as you can imagined I arrived safely ;)

*************************************

So the party began

The birthday boys with their Birthday cake.

Cake sponsored by makngah. The lettering "AZRA & MAHER" tu sponsored by Mak Ann (me) using fondant. Muuahaha, paling murah but it certainly enhanced the overall look of the cake.

;P

The grandma and aunties of Maher, putting their best pose. As usual, budak motak tu takde feeling. I don't think he's aware that all the baloons and food and whatnot are meant for him. Hehe

Acara memotong cake. Maher tak reti tiup lilin pun, so mummy did it for him.

Notice the huge number 29 and 1 on the cake? That's not another fondant. I intended to creat one like that for this party, but me and along found those cute candles in tesco (or giant?) and they are exremely cheap. 90sen ke satu hinggit tah. Tapi cute la. So we grabbed those too.

The pary ended well. With few games for the kids and karaoke sessions for all aunties and uncles amd among the cousins. Tapi tema malam itu adalah dangdut ONLY okay...and we couldn't pick the songs. They were picked randomly for us. (okk memang kepoh). Haku dipaksa mnyanyikan lagu Rindy by Amelina!!!

Crazy or wat...tapi hentam sajalah. We had great fun. Thanks to Anty2 and uncle2 yang bakar ayam ikan kambing and ape2 saja that night. I loike!

Good night people!

Long-due post : My bestfriend's wedding

I just came back from a long trip to the UK and Paris. My mind and body are doing their best to get adjusted to the local time. All in all, the trip was awesome! and extremely exhausting, what more with my two i-have-no-idea-where-we-are travel partners - my mum and angah! pening da...

anyways, because the preparation for this trip was quite a last minute one, I did not realize that I've missed to update one very special occasion - Winnie's Wedding on April 30th to May 2nd. Sorry babe, I owe you this one.

Oleh kerana terlalu banyak cerita dah accumulate by now, I decided to just pile up the pictures in proper chronology and let the pictures speak on their own. Also, the pictures are so wonderful that it would be a waste not to post them up.

Again, to Puan Winnie, Selamat pengantin baru!!! Please make time for the girls and spare us some gossips and hot hot hot news. Muahaha

Love ya!

Friday morning, pada hari buruh itu, I was sent to Serdang to meet up with the driver and co-pilot for the trip to Bentong, where the solemnization ceremony took place; Rauda and Dayana. We picked up Selvi from somewhere around there and continue our drive to Bentong. Mak oii, jam di Genting Sempah. We almost couldn't make it on time. Sorry win, kami sampai just on time, I think it was 10minutes to 3pm. Dah lah bawak doorgift suma. ;) Pastu lagi best, macik oda and layana tu pulak pakai jeans and shirt lagi. So sampai2, terpaksala pinjam blik pngantin and few minutes later they both are properly dressed for the ceremony.

The bride, and the hantarans which she crafted herself, along with two other friends. Until today I am still amazed! Well done!

The newly-wed in the limelight; win in her traditional java dress for malam berinai; and us playing around with her room decorations. Boy, I dressed up accordingly to the theme - red. Nice!

and on the next day.....

Reception ceremony. Again, I put on a baju kurung same colour with the bride. I'm starting to think that I'm part of the family. Hehe..No worries, of course seri pengantin tak dapat dikalahkan.
on the next-next day....

Reception on the groom side in Kelana Jaya. Winnie looked stunning on this day! We did not stop talking about it until after the event. This was a very happy occasion for all of us too, as an addition to winnie's big day, we got to meet up with the rest of the geng and other UNISEL colleagues.

Beautiful Classmates. Rauda couldnt make it on this day. So did Selvi, Zuleen and Radin. Kenn, Hang and Adi are not in the pictures, but I'm glad they came on that day.

Friends and old-gang...

Bottom-centre pic, we were the bujang-vogey club members. Kununnyer the singletons time di Unisel. OK, mmg tah hape2..now semua dah berpunya (dan hampir berpunya). Haha

To Pa'a, best gila dapat jumpa!

So, that is all folks. Again, I wish winnie and Fazli a happy wedded life, semoga berkekalan ke akhir hayat dan dimurahkan rezeki. May Allah bless you both always.

Until the next entry, have a great sunday people! ;)

You don't own me!

This awesome song is dedicated to...

  • myself - because generally I have always felt this way about most things (but this time it's not about me)
  • and rather more special to Along - as a wake up call, as a reminder, for your new strength, hope, and for an anticipated wonderful beginning....
  • Sesungguhnya setiap sesuatu yang berlaku itu ada hikmahnya
  • We love you and will back you all the way........

Sing your heart out
*melody sedang dimainkan*
*kami tujukan lagu ini buat A**** yang tidak mengenang budi lagi tidak layak hidup dan digelar lelaki *
* Damn you*
* From the bottom of my heart, I HATE YOU*
* We HATE you*
* And I am very sure that EVERYBODY HATES YOU*
* You = Just a Small Fry *

You don't own me
I'm not just one of your little toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

And don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
And when I go out with you
Don't put me on display

You don't own me
Don't try to change me in anyway
You don't own me
Don't tie me down, cos I'll never stay

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you

I'm young, (I'm young)
and I love to be young
I'm free, (so free)
and I love to be free
To live my life the way that I want
To say and do whatever I please

You Don't Own Me...

Note 1: A**** bukan Asraf yer...LOL
Note 2: A healthy relationship is a matter of balance..in every sense..

God...I am beyond upset....!! We were drenched in tears (me and along) while sitting in the car in the car porch. I have never felt such deep hatred towards anyone. And when I do, you just crossed the line.

So now, I am proud to announce that you are officially the first on my MOST-HATED-PEOPLE LIST! Period.

The least contribution is still a contribution

If you can afford it, contribute some money

If you don't have enough money, contribute your energy

I have more than 3 different food colourings stained all over my fingers and palms ...

The face is oily ...

Apepun, congratulations to my very special friend, 'Puan' Winnie ...

The Award goes to.....

Yay..harini dapat award from a good friend of me a.k.a Makcik Ejannz who is currently in Dublin. She's doing medic in RCSI which is known to be as the "rich" medicine school in Dublin. I dont have any statistics to prove this, but the TWO AWESOME LAPTOPS WHICH ARE FROM APPLE AND HP that the college provides (and get to keep) simply explains everything. Urrgh..I envy you makcik! Kenapa menyimpang cerita ni? Anyway, the only important point here is, SHE'S SINGLE! Need I say more? Muahaha haha...

Oh sorry macik, for not elaborating earlier on how you came into the picture of the 'ASASI geng'. Hehe I can't really remember how we first met, all I know is you were a girlfriend to R**** who was also a childhood friend of Farah. And then we ended up in the same group, but not in the same class. Fizik lab, kita buat sama-same juge....Not long after that you left to Kolej Mara Banting (KMB), where you get to know Asraf too. You visited us in UM once, and I also paid you a visit in KMB once. Gigih ok nak jumpa u and Zy...I kene naik bus jauh giler tau! hehe..

Anyway.....(menyimpang wey)..this is the award. It is so cute!

Vespa Blogger Friendship Award, or however you read it.

Thanks makcik. I loike! ;)

A day with Cupcakekasih

First thing's first. I did NOT realize that "MISS J..IN HER OWN WORDS" has officially operated for a full ONE Year!!! Yeeha! Happy Birthday bloggy, or whatever I call it. Hmm..should give it a nick name. Anyway....How time flies...ONE YEAR? I can't really remember what actually triggered me to start blogging (again) after the old blog in Friendster had long been forgotten. Whatever it was, I am sure grateful that I actually did it. I started this blog on the 11th of May 2008 when I was still in Cambridge, all alone in the room, searching for some sort of 'entertainment' or a medium to express my thought. As much as I love to jot them down, there are plenty..plenty..plenty of entries I had been meaning to post, but somehow they were...again forgotten! (and I was too occupied at times)!

Anyway.....back to 2009...

Did I mention that I have a new addiction? It is a little cute-creamy-sugary-thing happened to be known as cupcakes! I was aware that cupcakes are the in thing nowadays, but only after unintentionally arrived at this blog (because of its captivating name), I instantly fell in lurrve with them...Dengarkan saja nama blog ini, cupcakekasih...don't you want to have a peek at its contents? Well, I did. And FYI, kasih is the name of the owner's daughter. Another addition to beautiful (and uncommon) names like cinta and jelita. I loike! ;)

So..after skimming through the blog, I found out that Kak Jun (the blog owner) offered cupcake decorating classes for beginners! It was an impulsive decision to join the class but it felt right, because I didn't have any reasons not to! So, I wrote an email to Kak Jun to enquire about the class right away.

Kami berbalas email, and last week, I finally reached USJ 4 for my first cupcake class. Needless to say, I was super-excited! :D

I arrived there around 10.10 in the morning. Because the routes in USJ are alien to me, I got lost twice! Well, no surprise there! Hehe Anyway, the other girls arrived 20 minutes later I think, so I had the chance to chit chat with Kak Jun. She had a lively personality so everything felt at ease. Having a background as a journalist/editor of the famous Malaysian magazine, JELITA for 15 years, I am sure she has mastered the art of conversation and making guests feeling comfortable.

Around 11am, we took our place at the round table and started with introduction on buttercream. No need for me to explain in detail here, experience it for yourself when you join her class.

This is Farhy, a wartawan penyiaran from Gombak.

This is Iza, a landscape architect lecturer. No wonder all her decorations looked so kemas and uncluttered (like mine!), she is used to working with miniatures!

And this is Kak Jun's breath taking kolam ikan koi.
* Kak Jun, minta permission amil gambar ini ye*

This is Miss J, working with her fondants. Too engaged in her so-called art work.
Haku imagine lain, lain pulak end product nyer! YELLP!

**********************
More or less SIX hours later, this is the result.

IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING WHAT THEY ARE....
Cute baby shoes, pink roses, teddy bear with love heart, flower bouquet and the letter A encircled with purple rosettes.

Channel handbags and clutch (channel?? haha), matching blue platforms (or terompah), flowers again, mushroom in the garden, and more rosettes.

PLEEEAASSEE say they look like what they are supposed to be. Kalau mushroom tu nampak macam payung and teddy bear nampak macam penguin, sah haku fail! Haha
But, for first-timer OKlah kan??? Sculpturing with fondants require a skillfull hand and patience. Three of us were trying our best to make our decorations look right, while Kak Jun made it looked so effortless, of course! Tension je. Susah jugak wey....but fun to do ;)

In the end, we snapped a photo with our 'art-work' and the teacher, Kak Jun (last right)

After 5, we had tea together and then I rushed back with 10 decorated cupcakes in hand. Sangatlah excited to show to my family. ;o) I am really glad I attended the class, because few days before that, siap termimpi-mimpi pasal cupcakes. Now, sudah tidur lena.............. LOL

Wonder how well your sculpturing talent? Try fondant! Hehe

I am so indulged with this cute little thing right now, so back off! Let me explore the creative side of me, even if it'd take ages to create a masterpiece. Hehe

Back to the phrase that I always hold on to, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". Even if it is a simple thing as cupcakes, you have to belieeeeeevvve..... LOL

Have fun people!

*Kak Jun made an entry in her blog on our decorating class, check this page to learn more about it.....

Hmmmm...

Received a letter just a while ago...

Recognised the logo on the top-right of the envelope...

Heart beats at a faster pace...

Do not dare to think of any dreadful news nor the delightful ones..

Maintain composure...

Read the lines slowly...

So far, so good...

Ok...

Ok...

At the last paragraph...

Owh CRAP!

When best friends meet

Meet my two best friends in Asasi, UM...

SEVEN years ago, God brought us together in a place called Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya (PASUM). All three of us stayed in different rooms, floor and block in the hostel but for some (good) reason, we were placed in the same group. If I remember correctly, it was Group R3. It was during the first tutorial class when we first met.

I can still remember the first few words uttered by Farah. They sounded more or less like this, “Hi, tempat ni kosong tak?” while pointing to an unoccupied seat beside me. I said takde, and so she settled down beside me. We had to wait for the first tutor to arrive, so without feeling awkward we exchanged names and started to break the ice…

You know the feeling when you came into a room full with unfamiliar faces. The first thing to do was to get to know each other. Most likely, you will get along with the first person you talk to, true? If he/she happened to be a pleasant one to be with, that person would be your next best friend.

THAT’s exactly the case for me and Farah…

At that time, Alia has already found her "table-mate". I dont know what happen to that girl, but somehow after a while we tend to stick together. We walked to lecture theathre and tutorial together, had lunch and dinner most of the time, as I said TOGETHER.

I have always thought that perhaps NOT many people liked us very much then (for some reasons), but the truth came out today when Alia revealed a friend's confession that we were actually known as the "geng jahat" in ASASI. Hahhh??!! I really dont know how many people thought of us that way. Some, yes, but not many I guess. Mungkin cuma gadis-gadis yang envy us for being such playful and attractive (muahaha) girls. Alia and Farah pulak thought that we were popular. Hah?? Babes, popular for the wrong reasons?? Haihh... Again, I am not sure. If only I could make all ex-ASASIan to commit to a survey on their perception of us! Then only I would know...Because, kami tak jahat lar...cuma nakal jer...Hehe

What was the worst thing we did anyway?

Attend lectures lambat! Lambat as in at the same time the lecturers came in or later... : YES

Attent class tutorials lambat! Lambat as in at the same time the tutors came in or later... : YES

Geng duduk last row in lecture hall and tutorial class : YES

Tak salin nota, instead makan keropok or scribbling dalam lecture hall : YES

Tak siap tutorial questions so we had to borrow our friends' completed sheets : YES
*Owh this part, we were laughing out loud while recapping this part of our "bad habit". Tebalnya muka aku time tu untuk pinjam tutorial orang. WHAT WAS I THINKING??*

Dinner with our big group (which consisted of mostly guys!) in "Cafe Luar" Kolej-11 sampai jam 10-11pm : YES
*They are good friends anyway, but sort of a bad influence jgkla. Haha*

That was the reason we did not complete our tutorial assigments? : again..YES

So....I think that's not too bad. You think? Perhaps they jumped into some nasty conclusions after observing our so relax and tak kesah attitude. TETTT! Wrong answer.

Kami budak baik..... ;P

OK, so we all admitted that we regret our actions for not being more serious in studies and lack of focus during ASASI year (although it was one hell of a FUN year...like seriously!) But one good thing about us (cewahh) we did not, i repeat, DID NOT waste the next few years of our lives. All three struggled our way to the top in what we were doing. Bukan riak, cuma kata2 ingatan...

Alhamdulillah..kami sekarang sudah menjadi "orang", bak kata Alia. Farah was the best student for her batch (in IT), Alia has succesfully made her way to completing a masters degree in UPM with a patent (the fruit peeler) and won an award for that too, and I am grateful to be at a place where I have never imagined going for masters. All in all, we did learned our lessons...and we learnt it the hard way. I guess that's the one thing the three of us have in common.

So, that was just the intro of the entry....

Today's reunion was about celebrating. Celebrating Mrs. Alia's coming birthday. We had our lunch at Chilis in Midvalley at around 11am. Our initial plan to watch movie was cancelled because there was too much catching up to be done. 7 years of stories...So as I have imagined, the restaurant haru-biru every now and then because of our loud (and disturbing) laughter.

Alia and her most expensive rib-eye steak. Pastu tak habis! Grr..mentang2lah kami belanja

Alia and her surprise birthday cake! Alia responded only a few seconds later after she finally realized the singing was meant for her! Huhu Minah blur

Making wishes and blowing the candle

With the birthday girl

Me and Alia

I think we spent nearly 3 and half hours in chilis chatting. We decided we had had enough. But in fact we headed to New Zealand (ice cream cafe) and sat there for another 2 hours. By the end of the day, jaw masing2 dah cramp! Hehe

The large cup filled with 3 yummylicious scoops of different ice cream flavour.
By the time we couldn't stuff anymore carbs and sugar into our stomaches, we decided to call it a day. Besides, I had to run off to Banting for a kenduri, Alia had to spend time with hubby as well and Farah had to rush back.
So..the whole day well spent. With a great and lovely company, indeed.

I guess, we were celebrating our hopefully eternal friendship as well. ;)
Goodnight and have a restful Sunday
XOXO

Have you ever . . .

Have you ever....

laughed out loud till you cry?

Have you ever...

cheated on someone you love?

Have you ever...

wished that you are someone else, even if your friends always say that they wished to be in your shoes?

Have you ever...

hated someone for no apparent reason? The truth is you just envy him/her for whatever he/she has that you don't?

Have you ever...

swore yourself to a commitment but deep inside you know you have doubts..?

Have you ever...

envied another girl because you think she is prettier?

Have you ever...

Told someone that you will wait for him/her for the rest of your life?

Have you ever...

regretted your actions for not being brave enough to...say what you think, do what you want and love who you love?

Have you ever...

thought you are better than most people and thus bad things shouldn't happen to you?

Have you ever...

thought you are so good, you have the power to pick who you want to be with?

Have you ever...

doubted God's plan?

Have you ever...

wished you look differently?

Have you ever...

anticipated to talk to a person but you know he/she never will?

Have you ever...

experienced a moment where you should follow your heart not your head?

Have you ever...

felt so lost, exhausted and confused, you finally stopped deliberating because at that time you realized there's nothing you can do but to serahkan segalanya kepada Dia...??

NONE

It was quite a productive day...

After a week break, we finally resume our lesson. To begin with, I was away for 3 days on a trip to Surabaya with Atok and Abang (my younger brother). The trip was so-so...not very exciting, I would say. Makanya, enggak ada mood untuk update about it. Anyway, after returning from Surabaya, I was unwell. Poor kids, no class for the whole week! I have to admit that I did miss them. So today, mood Miss J sangatlah baik, although tantrum strikes towards the end of class. Heh

Around 7pm, Winnie came to fetch me and off we go to Alam Sentral, Shah Alam to go sponge-hunting. Hah, the bride-to-be is experiencing the final phase of wedding preparations - NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, ANXIETY and PANICK ATTACKS. The wedding is only 3 weeks away and as expected things start to get out of hand. But I think, she did quite alrite with only the little things like wedding favours to be sorted out. So..hang in there Winnie...I'm sure everything will be just fine. We had a good time chatting about the past, the future and going through the itinery for majlis akad nikah and reception. Can't wait! And I've got a purple dress to compliment the ceremony. Chewah...."compliment the ceremony"? What the fish?? LOL

So, overall today was quite fun. Only one sad news in the morning... My friend's mother passed away at 3.40 am in Ipoh after being diagnosed with cancer. This was one hell of a shocking news. We chatted over the phone just few days ago. One thing that she did mentioned was about the condition of her mother - just OK! Tiba2 this morning berita sedih ni pulak. I truly feel sorry for her. Sabar ye intan...We all doakan agar ibu intan ditempatkan di kalangan orang yang beriman..Al-Fatihah

That's all for now. Have a good nite sleep, people. I hope I'll have mine!

Little that I know about teaching...

It has been more than a month now...the daily routine of teaching seems to drain the energy and optimism out of me. I am lack of motivation now..Owh..little I know about the challenging world of teaching...

Sometime in december, I was asked, "ann, would you teach my kids?"
I gave a prompt (and sincere) answer, "I am more than happy to teach them".

I knew then what I was about to deal with; two kids (boy, 12 and girl, 15) both with really REALLY poor grades, obviously far left behind in school if compared to their counterparts, has no motivation, low confidence, lack of attention, has no focus (ini mendatangkan marah!), and the worst part is....they seem to have a memory that last for maybe...24 hours??!

Arrgghh!!!

Contohnye yer...

After a lenghty-detailed-explanation on let's say, division (mathematics).. bila ditanya faham tak, dijawabnye faham! Then bagi homework so they can practise at home - all answered correctly! OK, so I thought I did a good job and convinced that my teaching method was easy to follow.

Now......try to ask the same question again the next day?

SURPRISEE!!!!!

All memory gone! Bagaikan kami tidak pernah bersua!

Tensi atau tidak haku??

Thanks to them, I think I've lost a few kilos in a month and yerp, ageing faster than ever! Mentally and physically! Pakai L'Oreal anti-wrinkle pun tak jalannyer! (According to Along, by the age of 25 dah boley start pakai anti-wrinkle cream. hehe) Frowning every now and then, I expect a permanent wrinkles on the forehead!

Habit budak kecik ini yang suke berkerut.

So....if this was a bad idea, how come I agreed to take up the challenge and happily (well not really these 2 days) spend my every evenings with them?

My first reason? Because they are my own cousins. I feel that I (or other family members) have the responsibility to help these kids. Kalau depa ni budak2 normal takpe. Tapi ini special case. Bayangkan, the girl used to be dyslexia. She couldn't read until standard 5, so now she is slowwwwly coping with the subjects. And the boy is hyperactive where he can't or refuse to sit still and listen! Tell me how you can catch a cloud and pin it down? I'm thinking.....rotan? Heh heh heh...It's dissasterous since they started teaching mathematics and science in English! Hah, nak story pasal their english lesson kene entry lain..sakit hati..sakit hati!

The point is, somebody must do something about it! Takkan la I sampai ke cambridge and my cousins (who still has the hope to shine walaupun belum nampak sinarnya) jauh ketinggalan? Kesian kalau dibiarkan. Level depa sekarang? Amat menakutkan if I were their parents. Both will be sitting for UPSR and PMR. Hmmm..... *frowning again*

Some opposed to this very idea because I do not benefit (financially) from it. But I get full moral and technical support from my family members. Ibu has started to take over the english session. And Along too if she has the time. Well, Along would be the last teacher I'd hire! Garang gilerrrrssss. Sampai nangis students haku! Haha

Second reason - I am currently jobless. I know places where I could be employed and earn decent pay. But since I'll be travelling a lot these few months, I would not want to be bonded to anyone yet. So this is like a mini-project that keeps me occupied and makes me feel like a normal and useful person. Staying home for too long eats me up inside!

Third reason - I was convinced that these kids masih boleh diasah kebolehan mereka.

Fourth reason - maybe I am just crazy kerana merelakan diri memeningkan kepala!

So...more than a month has passed. Progress???

Honestly I do not know (sedih!!!!) I believe I have put a lot of effort. I am no longer as optimist as when I first started. After many 'failure' and extremely slow progress, I admit I started to think that the whole idea is just impossible to achieve. Perhaps they need professional help. I start to think more realistic here. How can subjects from the past 3 years being taught all in a few months? 3 years times 8 subjects! Tell me if you know how!

Until last week, I masih bersemangat. Memang nampak the kids lebih beri perhatian and makin cepat faham. So there are days that are fruitful eventhough most are not. But this week memang exhausting. Entahlah kenapa. Not trying to complain or anything like that. Just expressing my dissapointment - with them, with myself. Tak sangka it's more challenging that I imagined. Kadang-kadang budak2 ni miraculously smart (there are surprsising moments). Kadang-kadang....oh i just hate to use the word, but they are just plain lembab!!! No better word to describe their state of mind.

Lastnight and tonight, they are sleeping over at my place so we can have intensive lessons, and it's school holiday anyway. Maybe that's the reason for me being so demotivated. I realized that I started to use higher tones in my lessons and I am being crankier than ever. I have found the Sacha Fierce in me! Haha *sila google beyonce untuk keterangan lanjut*

Luckily weekend has arrived cause I am totally worn out by now and MUST gain respite!

Two days off, pergi rumah orang kahwen sane sini, makan-makan or jalan2, then sambung kerja on Monday. Hopefully by then, segala kemarahan sudah hilang....Harus buat spa and relaxing body treatment ni. heh

Thanks macik Ejannz for tagging me. Since I did this one before in facebook (last month), will just copy and paste in this blog, with few updates alrite. No rules....just 25 random stuffs......

How to do it:

Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you.

1 - I am currently jobless, bored and lost! - not anymore, I have found a new small project for now. It's a big responsibility...not bored and have small goals every week! ;D

2 - For the first time in my life, I weigh 60 kilograms! Wuhuu...optimal weight according to BMI test okk. - skrg entah, feels perfectly fine ;)

3 - Just started taking supplements. Thanks to 'Dr.' Asraf who has always been worried sick about my health condition. Feels much better now. But sir, I think that's the reason behind the weight gained. (eceh..salahkan pill pulak) ;D

4 - I had (notice the word HAD?) a resolution to order only plain water everytime I dine at restaurants/mamak. The trial period was for a month. Got through only the first week! Hehe - still unsuccessful!

5 - Milo Ais is my favourite! That explains the failure for resolution no.4 ;)

6 - Got a new resolution now - I'm reducing the consumption of eggs. Reason? Normal intake would be 5 eggs per week. And me? I normally take 14 eggs per week. Unbelievable kan!Cholesterol people..euww... - yup, berjaya me-reduce eggs intake to i dunno how much per week, but it's less than before . weheee

7 - My family said I'm a junk collector. I think I do..but they are actually cute stuffs that have no functions whatsoever.

8 - I believe I own more than 40 scarves/tudungs. Hehe But my cambridge labmates were annoyed by the fact since I only wear white most of the time. - am more colourful now..and verified - i own more than 60 scarves now! Haha..but letting go 10 of them...

9 - White or coloured, I'm totally conscious about the state of the tudung I'm wearing. It has to be pointed, and aligned! Not to the left, not to the right. - nothing's changed

10 - That makes me alert to mirrors too ;D

11 - I L.O.V.E bags more than anything! I think, I bought more than 15 last year alone. ;) - and scarves when come to think of it

12 - I have several travelling plans ligned up until June. March/April free. Anyone? - end of march taken!

13 - I am terrible when it comes to making decisions...indecisive!! -will start performing istikharah

14 - My nephew is so cute. He prefers his nanny(maid) more than me though! Bollocks! *excuse the language* ;D - AHAH! Not anymore bay-b!

15 - I think Amsterdam is a very cool place! But I love the mess in london! However, cambridge is very dear to me, more than anywhere else in the UK! Haha So bias! - insyaAllah will be back for a short visit. Yeeha!

16 - That reminds me of...the stupidest thing I've ever done - I accidently deleted the whole pictures of me and Asraf for the visit to london for the first time ever! Rasa bersalah still tak hilang until now! Sorry sorry sorry again! - unforgiven

17 - I miss arwah Azwan so much. And I still cant believe he's gone. ;( - now nenek is gone too. Al-fatihah. Semoga ditempatkan di kalangan golongan yang beriman...

18 - I have direction dyslexia! Haha - now takdapat determine. Perhaps improved

19 - I have a very long wishlist! Contact me if you feel the need to please me. ;) - still do...

20 - I miss my cambridge darlings..and cant wait for the next gathering with unisel babes

21 - Oh oh..i want a mini cooper too. That or a white range rover. Asraf?? - or X5..hehe

22 - I just discovered yellow suits my skin. Heh

23 - I used to take salsa lesson in college. Loved it

24 - I want to meet Oprah..I want to be Oprah! (as in rich and smart!) Not physically okk. muahaha - i want..i want!

25 - I have ten different occupations that I have always wanted to be.. - a journalist, a medical doctor, a teacher (primary/secondary school), a photographer, an artist, a guitarist, a clothes designer, a producer, a singer and lately i am thinking of being a cook! see..never a scientist ok..haha..talking about indicisive and fate!!!

Cheers
