My favourite thing(s)

Yes, it's obvious I was upset for the last few days...Many thanks to all who showed some concern in my current state and even more appreciative for the encouraging and motivating words. Pada orang yang lebih berpengalaman, I gain confidence in your words, as you have been there before me. To my friends who are in the same boat, thanks for standing by me and made me realize I'm, not facing this alone. I'm sure we will all get through this.

Okayyy...the initial plan was to NOT make the next few posts (or ever) sounds melancholic. I just hate the notion of being sad and hopeless! So let's spice things up a bit, OK.

One good thing I have picked up after watching this movie repeatedly when I was a child, was that everytime I feel sad, I'll try to reflect on the wonderful things in life (yup, sounds a bit cliche there), remember the sweet moments I've had before, or the many wonderful possibilities in the future. Of course, it does not work all the time and certainly the anger/worry/sadness/whatever won't ease in a split second, but more often than not, it helps. At least, my mind is bound to be guarded from negative thoughts.

Hence, for my own sake, I'll jot down a few of my favourite things...... ;))

The list can go on....but this is enough for now. I am already smiling (and sleepy) now. 5am, sudah terang, thinking of jogging this morning. Tengoklah. So peeps, do this. List down your favourite things.

Sebagai penutup, enjoy the clip I attached below. It's one of my favourite songs, ever..as a kid and as I am now. Last time, when I tried to memories the wordings, I did not think they are significant to me, as we don't have snow in malaysia and ponnies or mittens. But I can imagine those things and I simply loving them too.

Oh yes, managed to find a clip with lyrics. How handy. Time I kecik-kecik dulu, kene pause the video tape a few times to pen down the wordings. Sometimes we (with my sis) were just guessing, as long as they sound the same. Hehe Let's sing together.

It is officially my worst day in cambridge to date!

Am not going to narrate on what actually happened, but obviously it was a dreadful one. First thing, terima dengan hati terbuka, listen and learn! Find your strength and ask for comfort from God. Most importantly at time like this, I need a good network of support and of course, "the girls" filled in the part. Thank you to Kak Ina and K.Zetty for lending your ears....Such a relief to be able to talk about it. Asraf pun penat dengan his upcoming exams, will talk to him later...Oh yes, and the delicous dinner as well ;)

Okayy, jgn bazirkan energy kepada perkara yang kurang best and menyedihkan or de-motivating!!! I will sleep now, and start with greater passion and enthusiasm tomorrow!!!

Di sebalik nama mikayo

Oh, hari ini kurang sehat. Dari yesterday kat lab dah rasa macam nak demam. Mr. Math pun kate

Mr. Math : this is the first time I see you not singing in the lab
Jehan : yeker (yes, I automatically answered in BM yer..reflex) LOL
Jehan : erm..I mean, really? Hey, I do NOT sing all the time.
Mr. Math : Yes..yes..okayy..you look tired today
Jehan : Because I do feel a bit tired. I feel I'm going to be sick!

Betul lah pulak, so harini bangun je pagi sakit kepala. I cant imagine myself cycling all the way to the lab. Plus, luckily I have done some experiments in advance yesterday. Target harini writing2 je..I guess no harm done if I just stayed in my room. Now feeling better, tapi cam tak kuasa nk bekerja. Called Asraf, he's sick too..Kesiann.. Cewah..susah senang bersama la kunun ;)

Called ibu, she's in a meeting. So called along, borak2 best giler. She updated me about mikayo and her mummy-life. Challenging, exhausting but loving every minute of it. Mikayo seems to be a very active boy! Kuat menangis plak tu (dont all babies??) From what she said, I have the impression that this lil' newcomer brings the whole family closer. Everybody loves to come to check on him and my sis and ibu. Bagus kann ;) Before we ended the conversation, I asked along to kiss mikayo for me..ngehee...

Anyway...

mikayo's real name is Maher Mikail Oh. The "oh" is derived from the daddy's surname "Muhammad Ariff Oh bin Abdullah". When my sister was pregnant (by this time, we already knew the baby is a boy), along had this dream where auntie J, that's me! asked the baby;

Auntie J : What is your name..?
Mikayo : My name is muhamad mikayo!!
*in a super-cute voice!

He tried to say "muhamad mikail oh", but he said it too fast and pelat-like so it sounded like mikayo! Is he cute or cute?? Ahaks! Since then, I keep refering the baby in along's tummy as mikayo sampaila sekarang...chomel..chomell..

Orang kata its better to call a name that has good meanings. So this name wont stay for long I guess. But I like it! Maher / Mahir, (not sure of the spelling) is given by his nenek. She met this lovely ustaz during hajj, who has a lovely voice (good looking tak?) She instantly fell in love, with the name, of course! (hehe) and named the baby maher/mahir, with hope that he'll grow up into a fine man. InsyaAllah *if God permits*

Terlepas lagi..

Last week ada majlis akikah at my house, for the so adorable nephew of mine..

Alhamdulillah it went well.. Mikayo chomel sgt...Stress je terlepas such occasion. Ok, not so important, but I just wish I can be at home at times like this. In fact I wish I am at home at all times. Hehe Too demanding, isn't it?

I'm sure the whole extended family was there. Aunties surely busy with the cooking and uncles setting up the khemah, carpet, lighting or whatever needed to be done. I enjoy the hassle of preparing for a majlis. I like the chaos created by kids, people dressing up, cousins sharing makeups and discussing bout their tudungs or hairdos (hehe ikut akakkk die ni), and the best part is after the floor has been carpeted with the large red carpet, furnitures re-organized, and all sections are fully decorated. Its like a whole new look. Chantekk. Mum also loves to buy fresh flowers for special occasion. Well, we do have bunga tipu for the whole year kan! ;) Enggak sabar mau balik...

Oh yes, last sunday night ada kungfu hustle kat tv. Wah gelak sorang2..LOL Made me miss home even more. Selalu gelak2 ngan ibu or along or abang or arwah Wan. Bab2 tengok citer2 budus begini mmg inilah orang2 nya. Sory ngah, ko slalu tidur halfway of ANY movies! Ahaks Miss u people!

Doa untuk kak lin

Today Kak Lin balik ke malaysia dgn tiba2 nya. I didn't know this until 5 minutes before she went aboard (National express bus). My handphone boley plak takde signal time-time camni...

Anyway...her sister is in a very critical condition right now. She's in a coma. Nothing much we can do to help her except doa. Also, we prayed that Kak Lin sempat jumpe her sis...

Oh, harini sangat cantik...cuaca cerah, terang benderang, cahaya matahari best! Bangun je nampak angah letak gmbar mikayo yang latest...Oh, comelnyer anak saudara ku ini...Mata macam anak cina! *memang anak cina pun*

Tak sabar nak balik....by the time I sampai Malaysia (November most probably), Mikayo dah more than 6 months! Wah..besar sudaaa....

Okayy...I wish..Happy Father's Day to Ayah....hm... ;)

Nak keluar to city and pergi Boots. Harini ada last sale for father's day...MUST grab some stuffs..

Now dah jam 9.20pm dah. Cepatje saturday habis. Asal benda best, mesti goes away too quickly! Menci....

Today bangun ada sedikit lewat (tidur lewat again lastnite). Then kemas2 buat kerja, lunch time went to Kak Ina's house, ada makan2. Plus Dina from Sussex came to have all of us as her "samples". Nothing scientific nor close to exam questions. Tapi nervous tak pasal2. Hehe

We have to answer some questionairres that she's prepared in the laptop and on papers. Bukan questionaire la kot. More on english, concentration and memory test. Ada 100 questions about English grammar. Gilos! *Thanks Dina for making me feel a bit zany this afternoon* And I have proved myself that I am not a very focussed person (not ALL the time of course!!). Easily distracted. And sometimes find it hard to concentrate.. Parah tu..Tapi I finished the questions anyway...

Oh yes, we were served with delicous lunch meal as well. Spageti boloignase and one uncommon finger food for the day is tortilla chips with minced beef and cheddar cheese on top. Wah..for me anything comes with cheese is yummylicous. Bijak betul K.Zetty - ada bakat jadi isteri mithali. keh keh Then kak ina masakkan cucur bawang. Pun best.....Oh yes, CL came too. Airina n Ikhwan came later. Kak Lin takdak..pi london ngan 'Abe John' and anak-anak nya...

Plan to watch Cambridge Fashion Show tonight, tapi malas sangat. Lately selalu penat jer. So I balik and main computer of course! Then realised that angah has just created a blog of her own. Bagusla tuh! Not sure its a private type or public. Nnt tanye. Anyway, Welcome2 sis! Hope you'll find the serenity and excitement in writing. and, Miss and love you too.............

Hello...

nothing much to update. Today bangun lambat giler then sampai lab sangat lambat. Lately ngantuk je rasa. Selari dengan weather yang semakin teruk ni. Luckily environment in my lab is so lively. Dengan adanya Mr. Math, senang hatila sket buat kerja dlm lab tu. My post doc takde for two weeks, so bahagia sket hidup. But she'll return by next monday! Ish3....misery life will start all over again...Konfem akan meng-control diri dalam lab. Hehe She's a nice person (if not under pressure), it's just that she's a very moody type of person. I don't like it! Kalau experiment die tak jadi, kekechiwaan dia tu terasa dek semua orang dalam lab.

I am struggling to be as optimist as I can in cambridge (naturally I am), but I really don't need such negative energy around me! Work is just work, why take it emotionally? Kalau nak pun, takyah express pada semua orang okey....

OK, merepek di situ..anyway...today finish lab early. At 6pm, meet up with the girls to go to Mill Road to get halal meat. Then we ate at Chicken cottage. I have sandwich, so just tapaw mereka punya ayam. Hehe Kak lin joined us later on. She'll be going back to Malaysia soon *hope things will get better *

Then borak2, luahan perasaan n bincang2 tentang relationship n bla bla bla..then balik. Sampai college I bumped into Elef (Eleftherios Garyfallidis) pelikkan name die hehe From Greece. He invited me for his birthday party last night, but I was too tired to go. Tibe2 terjumpe, terkejut jap dah la lupe nak msg die tak jadi datang! Kejam jehan kejam...So, maybe sunday we'll meet up. Tengoklah, kerja banyak ni.....

Oh yes, stil tak update tentang last sunday..nnt lah..macam best je...

Sesungguhnya rezeki itu datang dari Allah yang maha Esa. Bersyukurlah dengan apa yang ada. Sepatutnya situasi ini mudah saja. Agak jelas akan keputusan yang perlu dibuat. Tetapi kadang-kadang manusia itu lupa, sedikit tamak. Inginkan lebih dari yang ada di depan mata. Sejujurnya, tidak salah untuk berusaha untuk dapatkan yang terbaik, dan mensasarkan lebih daripada kebiasaan. Tetapi usah lalai. Kadang2 Dia memberi. Rezeki namanya. Ada kalanya, Dia mengambil semula apa yang dahulunya diberi...itu pula, dugaan namanya.

Oleh itu, tetapkan hati, fokuskan tujuan, dan buatlah pertimbangan sewajarnya. Jangan runsingkan jiwamu tentang apa yang mungkin berlaku atau yang kau mahu berlaku. Saat ini, ini jalanmu, maka seharusnya beginilah keputusanmu...

Gosh..8.30pm baru smpai bilik..Managed to finish my labwork at 6pm, but discussion punye discussion with Mr. Math, after 8 baru we call it a day. Itupun, tak settle lagi. One question keep bugging me until now. Maybe...i say MAYBE ade kesilapan di dalam experiment ku and need to be repeated! Oh tidakkk....I cant afford to lose any more time!

Labmates day out...materialising Jane Austen's

Oleh kerana kekurangan masa untuk bercerita, this entry is going to be short. This happened on Friday evening.

Thanks to Nabil for the invitation to Classical Indian music performance, fusion with a modern instrument. FYI, one has to be a member of the college to invite others for certain events. It was held in the Master's Lodge, St.John's College.

Before the show.......

Me, Evan, Nabil and Terry (they are from the lab next door) went for dinner in Nandos. I chose vegetarian burger. Surprisingly sedappp!! But lupe nak amik gmbar sebab I was struggling to understand ape yg my frens cakap. Nabil and Evan dengan slang american die, terry is an english. So, agak konpius di situ! Tapi takpe, hopefully lame2 my ear dah dapat adapt n adjust. In a day, kene tukar channel US, UK, German, Chezh and Malaysia. LOL tapi bagusla jgk kn...I have to admit, a bit embarassing at times sebab tak faham. Have you ever watched "midsomer murder" in Hallmark? Begitulah mereka bercakap. LOST at times..Hehe

Master's Lodge - is an exquisite mansion where the master of the college lives. Seriously, the interior is exactly like what you see in the movie 'Pride and Prejudice'. oh, I LURRVVEEE that movie. If you've seen this type of movie (pride and prejudice, Sense and sensibility, Persuasion, Emma / Emma Harte, the count of monte cristo dan yang seangkatan dengannya), you can certainly imagine where I was. Oh thanks to ibu yang mmg meng-encourage saya menonton cerita2 sebegini sewaktu kecil. She is an avid reader. That's how I come to know of these novels, which was later on adapted into films.

I read, watch, fantasize and dream about these love stories - memang kuat berangan! These also influenced me on choosing the interior design of my room back home. Wallpaper mestilah rosy, dressing table made up wood, dark brown of course and matching satin flowery-paterned curtains...very the english! Hm..rindu la plak kt rumah...Ok, hilang fokus!

Back to the show... Mr. Amit Chaudri was the voice of the night. He was wonderful. I love the fusion. There was a pianao, guitar, tabla and bass. Memang best the songs. Serius terasa nak tgk cerita tamil and hindustan! Hehehe...I loike! One thing though, I can't tell whether the audience was enjoying the show or not. They didn't move! As for me, I almost got up and dance! Cewah..there you go, influenced by tamil/hindustani movies..huhu I mean, patut ade sedikit body language la kn. Dah semua orang static, segan saye tau...

It's sunday 8th of June 2008 at 4.27 in the morning...

Yup, u got that right. Kalau di malaysia tgh pagi2 buta pukul 4 pagi ni. I cant sleep last night, so I stayed awake until now. I am not doing anything worthy right now nor I feel like continuing on my thesis writing. I turn the tv the whole time, watching BBC news.

Obviously the news about Hillary's defeat against Obama is being repetitively announced. Then they have this issue about lesbian territory in Lesbos, Greece. Also 'bionic contact lense'? An electronic contact lens has been developed that will enable maps and videos to be beamed before the wearer's eyes. Wuhuu...advance bangat, We soon no longer need the GPS to navigate our way around town. Bagus jgk. Should be useful in KL. ;)

Rasa macam mmbuang masa, so I am ironing all my clothes (obsession that I developed lately). Anyway..suddenly I realised out of the window that it's already bright. Bright as in 6.30am back home. Check out the photos, view from my room. Sangat peaceful.... ;) Note: ini adalah 4.30 pagi!

Oopsie..subuh hampir habis..Got to go...

Oh yes, yesterday's afternoon (saturday) andak called and asked me to online. So I turned my YM and webcam. Best dgr suara my family. Tapi tak dapat tgk atok n nenek's face cuz andak left his webcam in the office. They can see me instead. We shall give it another try ok, andak! Maju ke hadapan dengan informasi teknologi....Hehe I loike!

On Thursday evening, "the girls" tried out a new place for dinner. Plannyer nak minum2 je..tibe2 we decided to go straight for dinner. Weather was nice, it was worth to mingle around town. Plus, I finished my labwork early (aka malas nak stay for writing). So, me and K.Ina berjumpa at our 'tempat biasa' and waited for K.Zetty and K.Lin by the river (they went to magdalene college for next term's accommodation ballot)..Romantik gitu..so many people chilling out there with beers in their hands..Happening!

Anyway, review for Anatolia? It's a turkish restaurant..Kureng sedapp..

Weekend yang productive...NOT!

Last week I wished I could be more productive the following week, after I have recovered from the eye infection...mmg my eyes have fully recovered. Tetapi weekend kali ini juge tidak berapa produktif! (so contradict to my initial plan..not surprising!)

Instead, my weekend was fully booked! On saturday, I was invited by K.Lin to have lunch at Sanjukta's house (K.Lin's labmate). Her flat was really comfy and the food was yummy yummy! She cooked chicken kari, beef stew (i think), salad, n some pakistani dishes..mmg sedap. We arrived very early at her house, around 12noon. I have to get back to town by 3 bcuz I had another date with 3 guys from the lab (jgn jeles!) So, I have planned it all. Makan from 12, borak2 until 2.30 and take bus at 2.30 to town. Tetapi, kerana masalah teknikal, we started eating only at 2.15pm! Kelaparan aku menunggu aja! Tapi it was worth it.

As planned, I had to take the bus at 2.30pm to town. My labmates wanted to watch indiana jones this time. I insisted on watching Sex and the city. Of course the guys takmau! Majority wins..So ikutkan aja..Also i know, il watch it with my girl friends..huhu..confirm kami berangan selepas itu! LOL

I asked K.Lin to come along. She resisted the day before, but then decided to come along (after being told Marcelo would also join the club) ahaks! jgn mara K.Lin..gurau aja.I'm trying to set u up with orang puteyh ni...hahahhaa...fyi, he likes to talk a lot with K.Lin. Oh, Marcelo yg buncit n comel itu...

Anywayy...no doubt we were a bit late. Luckily they bought the tickets for 4pm show. So we had drinks and chit-chat. Xiao Fei brought his girlfren, so they missed the photo session! Indiana jones sucks! Certain parts are funny la jgk, but overall I would NOT reccomend to watch....malas nk ulas pnjang. D point is, you can give it a pass.

After movie, we went for a drink at La Granta. Weather was a bit chilly, but we found ourselves sitting outside the bar, coz the scenery is just irresistable. Takdela lawa sgt, but it was refreshing to minum2 di luar. Bley tgk swan! hehe

Then, Marcelo decided to go back n cook. Me and K.Lin wanted to eat at Thai restaurant just next to the bar we were sitting. After a long thought, I suggested to cook at college. It was getting late n K.Lin didnt bring her bike front light, she better just stayed at my place that night. Perfecto, we can cook, watch tv n sleep at my place. Mr. Mathias also tag along..He mmg malas nk balik college, so terpaksalah memasak utk 3 org..

Cewah..kunun dinner at my place, turned out K.Lin cooked for the three of us. Sebab kalau I masak 2 jam baru dpt makan. As for Mr.Math, he was clueless on what to do. So duk diam2 je yer..let the girls rock in the kitchen! LOL Then semua makan kat my room. Kami ajar Mr. Math makan kt atas lantai. Haha tula, nak lagi belajar adat kami. Tu belum makan dengan tangan lagi. Konfem kelaparan! ;) So malam tu mkn best n K.Lin slept at my place.

Oleh kerana kedai tutup sgtlah awal di England (kurang bijak di siteww), so I tak sempat nk shop2. So the next day, me n K.Lin mmg determined to go to grafton centre to grab some items. And so we did! Sgtlah efficient...SHOPPING! balas dendam minggu lepas tak jadi pi london ;) Happy2..then balik n smbung kerja sedikit..prepare for lab the next day...

So? Productive atau tidak minggu ini? "Sangaattt" ;)

p/s: lupe nak mention name2 yang amat penting in my "swollen eyes" posting. Terima kasih yg tak terhingga untuk Encik Asraf Ahmad Kamil Saraidin di atas sokongan moral dan emosional! Huhu..He called me every now and then to check on me! I bothered him by calling a few times too, to keep me occupied..ahaks..sgtlah mementingkan diri sendiri apabila sedang bosan di dalam gelap itu hari..So...thanks heaps deary... XD
