Heathrow yang tak gempak

Oops, tinggal 4 minute je for internet to be disconnected.

I'm writing from Heathrow.

Sangatlah buhsan,

Tambahan lagi Heathrow sangatlah burok lagi kurang maju. The departure hall, waiting area and kedai2 makan di sini (hehe banyak plak complain)

Terharu tadi ramai yang hantar naik bus.

15 minutes lagi gate open. Harap hand luggage tak exceed limit.

Ok people. Wish me a safe journey home.

Balik dah tau banyak kerja menunggu. Angah dah warning suruh i help her with wedding prepartaions....

Grrr

Ok bye

Muah

omg..omg..omg..ONE day left

This is unbelievable..

Satu hari saje lagi, I will leave England for good...

For the last few days, I've been busy with packing, meeting people for the last time and packing again. 90% are done. But I still can't believe that I am actually leaving. FOR REAL!

I guess, every journey has an end. So is mine this time.

I am very sad to leave. Especially knowing that I will not come back (for studying). Will embark on a new life elsewhere. Am excited, of course, but I guess at the point of leaving something, it is oftenly heartbreaking. I am also feeling quite reluctant to leave and uncertain about my decision at times. But first step to take is to return home, and then only I'm able to judge the situation from a different perspective (although I have constantly reminded myself about the advantage of this, the uncertainty is always there). Grrr..complicated! I'll leave it to God for guidance. Yang penting, my mission here -ACCOMPLISHED!

Beberapa hari lepas pergi berjalan ke London dengan Cik Intan again. Since she will not be in Cambridge today during the leaving party (plus jamuan raya) at Kak Zetty's place, she called me early morning for a quick breakfast somewhere in city centre. So we met in Agora and chit chat and then exchange photos. Banyak sunggoh! ;)

Lunch hour I went out with Gabriela, and for the first time she put her work aside. She said this would be the last time to spend time with me. I was truly touched. (if you know gabriela, you'll understand why. NOTHING comes between her and her lab work). So we went to Grafton centre, and visit almost all the second hand shops there. I cant believe they have so many things. And they are usable. How come I have never bought any of those before. Mesti save a lot! Anyway..will update all about it nextime (I was dying to update on SOOO many things, but time is always the enemy), because today is all about leaving Cambridge...

Sekejap lagi ade makan2 and so at 11am kene gerak ke tempat Kak Ina. Then they will come to my place to pick up some things. Then malam? Tonite will be my last night in this room...Awwww...sangat sedih...Feels like yesterday..Constantly rearranging my room, decorating it, going back and forth to Argos to buy room accessories. Tak sangka nyer...I guess orang yang duduk sini for PhD lagilah tak dapat menerima kenyataan. Hehe. Anyway, I have so many stuffs! Macam dah duduk sini 3 tahun jgk! Haha.. Last night, Xuling came over to say goodbye (the term has ended, so she is going away to Switzerland for few weeks). Being such a simple person, she was even more astonished with my posessions. The room felt homey, but still a lot of stuffs. Eheh

Well anyway...the feeling is undescribable. I will not believe it until I am on the bus to heathrow tomorrow. Hmmmm.....

I will try not to think of what I'm leaving behind, but will start focussing my mind on what I can explore and achieve in the future. Look forward! Forward! Forward!

Okeh, nak sambung kemas2 and then bersiap. I guess this is it. After one loooong (ok, now it feels very short) year, I have to take my life to another level. Happens to everybody right? Life is all about making decisions. Most famous for the tough ones.

So yup...grow up....

Hmmmmm........

Amsterdam Trip 26th - 28th Dec

It was two days before the trip that we finally made up our my minds to go on with this trip. We were supposed to go to Salzburg, but changed the plan last minute. So, Intan checked the flight ticket and accommodation and I print out everything needed to bring there. I even contacted Pakcik Azizi 2 days (or was it a day before that). Hehe We couldn't go there earlier that 26th coz I had an appointment with my supervisor. So, it was indeed a very short trip, but worth it! Anyway....

At 10.30 we depart from Cambridge to Stansted Airport. I was poorly (this is the English way to say you're unwell, but not severe enough to use the word sick - funny!) that morning, so I did not put any makeup on and only wore my glasses instead of contact lense. By the time we arrive amsterdam, it would be dark anyway. So no one's looking. Hehe
Amsterdam Central at night..Wet and cold

We were looking for the tourist information centre to find our hotel, but we came accross this instead! How convenient!

After a long search of the hotel, we found it. We asked the local people, and they were nice enough to show us the right way. Btw, the dutch speak good english too, made it easier for us to ask around. After checking in, we ate in one of the kebab shops located 10 minutes from our hotel. Sedappp..but mahal as expected.

It was raining that night, and so we were prepared with umbrellas. We used mine that night as Intan was too lazy to bring out hers. Akan tetapi, payung ku buat aksi marry poppins lah pulak that night. You know when sometimes the wind is too strong and you don't hold your umbrella against the wind, so die jadi terbalik? Ha...that happened a lot that night! Also because my payung sudah cedera tulang belakangnyer. Annoyed with this, Intan suruh I buang je payung tu dalam sungai..So that's what I was trying to do. We slept early that night. Tired and cold from the travelling. Also, still unsure where to go. The next morning would be a busy one.

This is the next morning, the view in front of our hotel - the canal. The only thing that can convince me to migrate to Amsterdam if I can have an appartment facing one of the canals. It's just so lovely..........Hm....

Old skool eh...All prep to go jalan2 that for the whole day.

All foggy and cloudy.

Another canal

Canal cruise that we missed ;( Due to limited time, we followed Pakcik Azizi'z advise to take the excursion package in building #26 at Damrak Street (Pakcik, kami ikut arahan satu persatu okeh! Sebab I kan kesesatan selalu). So yup, dengan bantuan cik Intan me-navigate jalan, kami smpai di Damrak Street, paid for the package and off to Vondelpark, Hard Rock Cafe and etc.

Apekah kereta menyeberang trafiic sebegini rupa? That is the tram rail tau. The traffic was the only thing we dislike. Kami jadi terlalu alert di amsterdam. All the time kene ring dengan cyclist. Oh yes, they cycle here too, tapi laju gilos! Bukanlah seperti Cambridge yang tenang lagi selamat. Hehe

Kalau tak amik gambar kat sini takde bukti sampai Amsterdam. Unluckily, it was wet. 300 of wet days in Amsterdam they said.

At 1pm we started the tour starting with a 20minute journey to Volendam, the fishing village. See the cute small houses in Volendam.

Ngan Macik Nelayan yang menunggu suami-suami terchenta pulang dari menangkap ikan

Huhu, inilah kostume wanita Dutch. Check out the wooden
shoes (clogs) and the gouda cheese
After volendam we went to alida Cheese Farm and proceed to this windmill village. Too many pics to post, so later aje. But I like this picture. Macam sedey jer..hehe

Oh, gambar ni masih menimbulkan rasa kesal. kenapalah aku beli? It was an impulsive purchase, tgk orang seronok beli, haku pun beli je. Bile tgk balik, gambar windmill tu pun separuh je. Costed us 5 euros, tapi takpela..ade calendar for next year. ;)

The excursion ended before 6pm and so we shop for souveniers for a while before meeting Pakcik at KFC around 6pm. Sangat seronok makan KFC halal, it was equally exciting to meet Pakcik. Hehe. Thank belanja kami dinner that night. ;)

*Psst*

Kak Ja, tau dak calon menantu Kak Ja ni aihh...bawak cek pi merata malam tu! Kami tak tanye pun, dia yang offer! Huhu So kamipun pi la membuat lawatan "sambil belajar" ke Daerah Lampu Merah. Menarikkss kawan2...siapa suka belajar subject biology / chemistry memang harus ke sana. Yang suka sociology pun harus melawat. Ngeh ngeh ngeh. But it was one of the most exhilarating experience in Amsterdam. Cik Intan and me were giggling all the way. Memang shocking la, tp I like! They even have a special name for this area - The Dark Side of Amsterdam....Muahahaha

And then kami jalan-jalan sambil belajar lagi ke Dam Square where we posed in front of the National Monument. Nak juge statue of naked guys diorang nih, pelik..pelik..

Aik, gambar kecik tibe..

Dibijenkorf Department Store. Equal to Harrods in London they said.

The three kids in Amsterdam. Kids???

Tunggu tram nak balik hotel.

Saying goodbyes to Pakcik before we naik ke hotel untuk beristirahat. Thanks to Pakcik Azizi yang rajin melayan kami malam tu. And maap le notice last minute. Ada rezeki kami datang and have a longer trip. It was nice meeting you.

So...tibelah hari Jumaat untuk fly back to London. I was poorly again that morning so was in no mood to dress up and thus the spectacles and purple tudung. We were supposed to wake go arrive the airport at 7am. Instead, we depart from the hotel at 7! Huhu So agak kalut la..Tapi sekali plenty of time before the departure time. Makanya, kami pun duduk kepenatan di airport, tunggu gate bukak.

Last picture with Intan in the airport. Touch down London Stansted Airport. Oh yes, we met another Malaysian girl in Schipol airport tau. Kak Yus nama die. Such a nice sis. Nanti upload muke die. So we sat together in the plane. Overall, it was indeed an exciting trip, walaupun ada ke-demam-an melanda and kerenah macik di check-in counter. Hope we can have another one cik intan..Lap u ;)

Gambar2 lain kalau rajin baru upload

XOXO

Cemas....

What a day....Yesterday morning, I was awaken by an sms from Ibu saying that my sis and her future husband were involved in a car accident in Jalan Maarof. She said, my sister's car was flipped over but they are safe. But then again, its a small tiny cute kancil car...I was quite sure my sis's kancil would totally crashed. And it did...I called ibu and along and they assured me that both of them are in good state. Abg Azra was injured on the elbow though. They went for X-ray and everything, alhamudulillah semuanya OK...

And this morning, angah sent me an email showing an article in Harian Metro....(glamer mak ngahh)

The headline is not the 'Cerita dongeng RM35j' tu yer...Burok sekali headline..anyway, angah said that the reporters were trying to ask for her name during all that chaotic situation. Gilo ape!? Mesti la my sis takmau cakap. And so...they wrote in there 'pemandu wanita yang tidak mahu dikenal'...Muahaha...lawak jer...Plus, what's with the 'Dua sahabat baik'?? They are a couple who will get married end of next month okayy...Sila betulkan fakta anda wahai wartawan yang berkenaan..But that's nothing...most importantly is they are both safe....

Hm..macam..macam.....

Oh yes, my ibu was horrified of course...(ke histeria??)...no worries now...

Life is never perfect..

When you thought things are almost..almost..almost perfect...

Haih...another thing to pray for..its never ending isn't it? I'm staying optimist though...I'm a bit upset, but it's OK. To 'you-know-who-you-are' don't feel too bad alright.

Thanks to all who wished me well and prayed all along. Jasamu dikenang....indeed

Wise words from David

I was in the office, going through my thesis when David knocked on my glass sliding door to say hello and asked how I'm doing. So I told him, I'll be having the last examination (he doesnt know what viva is btw) of my MPhil next wednesday. So he wished me luck and gave a wise advice (as far as I am concerned)...

Do not worry until the very last minute...and during the last minutes, there is no point worrying...

How very true...The way I understand it, do not worry at all...don't you think so? he he

* David is the maintenance guy in my department. Old-funny guy!

Happy Anniversary to MYSELF...

Today marked the 1 year anniversary of me living in Cambridge. A year ago exactly on this date, I arrived at Heathrow airport all on my own in somewhat seems sooo unbelievable then. I still remember feeling extremeeely nervous (and excited at one point) and too alert about everything around me. My bags, passport, documents, reading all signboards, which bus to take, and asking people for directions and the list goes on...Hectic sunggoh time itu...Not a chaotic kind of way, but I remember being careless about the condition of my tudung then. Hahah. Muka dah penat semacam but still tak pedulik...Get the picture??

A piece of advice from my dad (who also set foot in England for the first time on his own at 18) -just be calm, if you penat, you duduk and think. You tak tau, you tanye orang and the signs are everywhere to guide you. He is so right. Being me (yang agak cepat panick at times), I tend to get lost easily. LOST is like my middle name. Hihihi So yup, I did exactly that. I asked people (at the airport) just to make sure I got the right bus or taking the right exits, carefully reading the directions and signboards, all at the same time keeping guard of my huge-heavy-bulky luggage. Bukannya apa, kalau kat Malaysia kan kita drive..kalau silap pun U-turn je lah. But in this case, the coach ticket price was 33pound (if I remember correctly), so kalau silap takkan soka hati je nak suruh bus stop kan. Plus, damn damn expensive! Well anyway, it was a success to reach cambridge

Fast forward I year later, here I am, at the end of my MPhil... God knows how much I've cherished (and mourned) my life in Cambridge. It's a lifetime experience (as far as I am concerned). Independent sunggoh!

Here are collections of pictures to bring you on a journey of Miss J from Klang all the way to Cambridge the magnificente!!

Snapshots with Fac. Biotech staffs, students, plus messing with Rauda in her lab. Can't remember when exactly. I guess this was 1 week before leaving
Farewell lunch : A treat from Prof. Latiff with Fac. Biotech staffs and Research Assistants

There was a makan-makan (or was it kenduri) at my house two days before departure. All staffs of Biotech Fac. were invited and these were the people who turned up. Memang terharu sebab they arrived in 3-4 cars. And this is Selvi and her hand-made gift for me. It's a calendar of 2008 containing pictures of me, her, fahmie, and many more. How toughtful of her. Apart from the bulky-ness I compressed it into my luggage so that I can bring it along to England. Now it's in my college room ;) That's Fahmie and Er also RAs in the faculty.
Ini adalah barisan lecturer dan staff faculty yang sudi datang. I hope the food was good. Can hardly remember now. On the same day, they presented me a pink winter jacket as a departing gift. I tried it on instantly to show how I appreciate it. Mind you, it was bloody HOT on that day. But I dont have any pictures of it. Now I remember, Dr. Yap had an entry about this. When I read it again now. I can only say sigh (in grateful)......cepat btul masa berlalu and how I am blessed. So, bersyukur lah Miss J oii..kala susah dan senang...

During the night of the same day, as usual my family suke je ada karaoke lah, persembahan lah. Memang meriah.. Oh, I used to love all the fame and limelight. Masa kecik2 la..sekarang tidak lagi. If not, sure I dah sign up for AF7! Muahaha Anyway, these are my lil cousins who performed a tradisional dance. And then they sang a song originally called 'Bila Rindu' by VE but modified the lyrics. It's funny to read it again. Later I'll show you. They are truly adorable, me cousins...

And there I was.....the long-awaited day had finally come...3rd November in KLIA. My flight was at 11.55 I think. So technically, on 4th November sharp I'm off from KL..

Atok and Ibu

me and my lil brother (who flew in from Christchurch just 2 days before I left)...There was a surprise he made..long story, but grateful he was there to send me off

With abang and Along (and Mikayo inside)

With Abang again and Angah

Family picture

Friends who came to send me off...thanks guys. Yayy we'll meet real soon

Final family picture before I cried my heart out. Muahaha Sudah terasa sebak2 time ni...All the way to the gate I was praying silently. Memang nervous habis lah. But my mind was realy focus then.. I was sad to leave my family behind, but far more excited to start on a new journey.

About an hour after saying goodbyes, I'm already in the plane enjoying the business class treatment by the cabin crew. Muahaha..(oh, made a call to Asraf in the waiting room). Special thanks to my cousin brother, Abg Awie who made sure I get in on time and my seat was secured and for carrying the bags and so on. You are super-duber talented ;)

I think I watched series of movies for 3 hours, slept for 3 hours and then continue with movie marathon. I was reading some books as well I think. Then uncle yang duduk sebelah I (not seen in picture) was super-nice. He's a jet-fighter (I think!) and gave me advice on stuffs. Thanks pakcik..wherever you are now

Alhamdulillah...sudah sampai heathrow....But this is outside heathrow, at the coach station where I have to take a national express bus to cambridge. I didn't know which stop to wait at first, so I asked the pekerja. He made a joke i think, but I responded like 10 seconds later to digest the information I just received from him. owh owh..he was trying to be funny...Susah nak paham okayyy. But then it was all right ;)

See the penat face. And told ya, the tudung was just disasterous. Haha Plus, it wasnt so called on that day. I only put on a thin jacket. Jacket baru kaler pink itu saya pegang sahaja..

Apepun, alhamdulillah sudah setahun di sini and still alive (literally and metaphorically) as life has been tough in cambridge. Nonetheless, I would not exchange my life for anything in the world. Because there were equally pleasure memories that I treasure here. Thanks to my family who has been supporting me all the way, with motivation and prayers. Friends back home and here in cambridge who has also been a wonderful group of support. I owe this to all of you.

*emo seketika*

Pray for the V day people..and then, mission accomplished

My to-do List...when I get back!

OK, I know its a month away..but I come up with this list out of boredom (boredom? are you kidding?? 9 days away from the V day..grrr)

Anyway, to be honest, cant wait to be back at home. That's what I've been wanting since..since...since forever! On the other hand, sedey pulak nak balik. Too complicated to think now, so..I'll just go with the flow...

So, below is not a list that must-do thingy, but merely the basic things that maybe it's routine for some people, but I never got around to. So, after a year away from family, I want to do these.....

1 - Prepare breakfast for the family. Before this either Ibu prepare or keluar makan (kak ina's bihun as a good start. It seemed soo easy now. I didn't have a clue on how to make one before this!)

2 - Jog every morning and evening (before this just once in a while. Increase the intensity!)

3 - Oh, yes, gardening! (inspired by the lovely gardens they have here and Gabina, the true nature lover)

4- Again, masak2. For lunch or dinner maybe? (OK, I'm sure saya hanya bersemangat sekarang sahaja. Tapi I am so into cooking lately. So add that to the list)

5- Continue swimming (kat sini, tak pernah pergi. Constantly discouraged by the cold weather)

6- Print segala pictures from digital camera and make albumsssssss (have the feeling this will cost me a lot! but takpe..investment di hari tua..)

7- Read more self-help books. Boley jadi motivator lepas ni

8- Organize my expenses. Invest more money. Save more for travelling (Ibu has tonnes of books on this, might as well read 'em)

9- Give tuition! (ha...i've always wanted to do this. Ada sape2 nak I ajar anak dia? I'm a good teacher you know...hehe (NOT!) Maybe primary school pupils easier. For secondary school, I can only give Biology/Chemistry lessons) Oh, Pendidikan Jasmani pun boley.. ;)

10- Make a family trip (after so long) to...dunno where yet. Along is working on it

11- Trip with friends (would be more interesting this time, as Winnie is the bride-to-be, zulin dh ada boyfy and so on)

12- And last thing I can think of is, pergi shopping bawak mikayo in the baby stroller. Confirm orang ingat I mummy muda.. - I like! ;)

Will update as soon as I can think of anything. Semoga dipanjangkan umur utk sempat achieve all this. Malaysia..here I come......

For a year, I am entitled for free subscription of this magazine. I hardly khatam the whole magazine (as I should) everytime I received it. Inside, there are loads of latest/updated info regarding science advancement. Not to waste the good (and free) resources, I am offering to send a free copy of the magazine to anyone who is interested.

It does not matter if your current study/job has nothing to do with science and technology. Ilmu tetap ilmu. So guys and girls, if you are interested, kindly jot down your email addresses and I will forward to you the copy. You will receive an email containing a link. Click on it and voila!, you are in touch with the SCIENCE magazine. SCIENCE magazine people....wooooo.......(hehe macam gempak jer. But of course lah, kalau kene subscribe kan ke rugi.) And no worries, it is realy handy to operate and fairly comfortable to read in this form.

Latest edition : 24th Oct 208

About the cover : The surface of the Sun shows rapidly changing patterns due to convection, as well as global oscillations of very low amplitude. The CoRoT (Convection Rotation and Planetary Transits) satellite, launched in December 2006, has now measured both phenomena in other stars.

Motto saya pada hari ini adalah... Let's Share Because We Care!!

Akhir kata, Tuntutlah ilmu sampai ke negeri China...(why China lah? distance-wise??)

Rupa itu tidak penting....

How far is it true???

Kalau u tengok, puding di bawah, nampak macam sedapp je kan...Rupa cantek, rasa pun sedap (ngehehe)

Tapi kalau dibandingkan antara puding kanan dan kiri, naturally orang akan makan yang kanan dahulu. Puding kiri : you ni cantek lah
puding kanan : ha'ah (riak!), thanks!
puding kiri : Dari mana?
puding kanan : I'm from Russia, how about you?
Puding kiri : Me from South Africa
puding kanan : OoOo....patutler...
puding kiri : erkk??

Walaupun rupa berbeza, rasa kedua-duanya sangat lazat (iye ker?).

Note:
* Puding Roti pisang resipi Jehan (oh, i took it from somewhere long time ago), aktiviti Sabtu pagi (as early as 7am)
* I have nothing against Russian, so far all my russian friends are super nice!
* Have nothing agains South African too, so far all my S.African friends are....well, black! ;) missing the point here, they are super nice too!
